Hello, I am an average user of Linux systems, and I want to get into the mess that Gentoo supposes, I have a "little problem" when installing:
I am installing it from my distribution which is Ubuntu, and this is where my problems begin, I want to partition the disk (which is good after being informed by google, I will use a default "folder" system, which is the one that comes in all the tutorials from Internet.
I enclose the image of how my partitions are distributed that Ubuntu created for me when I installed it:
Well, what happens? Well, to begin with, I have to make the partitions from partition 2 (/dev/sda2). But being logged in from my user (from what I have read) I cannot access to unmount the disk (to resize it and make my partitions) since I am "using" my personal folder that is in that partition.
Any idea how to log in as root, without having to log in with my user? Or any way to unmount the partition and resize it ?
And regarding GPT partitions, what is the difference between MBR and GPT partitions, I don't understand very well what advantages and disadvantages each one has.
Greetings and thank you.
