Good as the title says. I don't use joomla since version 3.2, now I'm in a multilanguage project with the latest version, I installed a CCK (k2), falang (to translate fields in k2), and the advanced module manager.
My doubt arises because I have spent more time googling solutions to problems generated with falang or because of its lack of free options or with k2 with multilanguage.
I always use joomla with its native multilanguage options and they are more comfortable for me, my question is now that joomla has custom fields, will it be necessary for me to use K2?? . I would only be adding basic fields for a user panel, translation panel and changing the template of certain sections a bit.
To be more precise, could I achieve this only by using joomla's custom fields, native multilanguage and template overrides? What are the limitations against k2 and falang regarding fields and associations?
Edit: Improve the question.
The question is almost based on opinions, so I am going to guide the answer to be as neutral and objective as possible:
Joomla is multilingual since version 3.7 (or earlier), so it is NOT necessary (in most cases) to use an extension like Falang to translate content or extensions. The only exception is when an extension was poorly done and does not conform to Joomla conventions to be natively multilingual.
Custom (native) fields in Joomla articles are quite flexible and varied in general, so a basic site shouldn't require any additional CCKs (like K2). In case you require some type of custom field that Joomla does not have, you could first consider if it is worth using a CCK just for that, or if you create the extension yourself, or if you adapt your project to work with the options offered by the plugin. Joomla core .
Template overrides are not a bad practice in Joomla, since they are nothing more than a modification of the code, and in fact it can help you in solving some inconveniences, or in improving how you handle certain information, or how you show it to your users.
Whether or not to use Advanced Module Manager is outside the scope of the answer, since it is based on opinion. It is true that the Joomla module manager does not have as many options as this extension, but it works just the same.
