Folks, I'm trying to remap the Alt=Control and Home=Alt keys. I have tried these commands:
xmodmap -e "keycode 110 = Alt_L"
xmodmap -e "keycode 64 = Control_L"
I have also tried editing the file /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/pc and nothing.
Vscode when I press alt it shows me "control+alt" and when I press home "alt+home". if I press control+alt+t it doesn't open the terminal. That is, the key remains with two assignments.
Anyway, I'm using linuxMint 21. In windows it's very easy but here it's fighting.
Thank you in advance for your help.
note: for some reason the two control keys don't work on the keyboard so I need to remap them.
Friends, I solved it myself with this xkeycaps application . (If it is not found, install it). She allows us to make a key change "exchange keys" by right clicking and exchanging the functions of the keys.
It is very important that there are not two keys performing the same function because it will not work!!!. Then click "write output" to create a file that makes the change permanent. at the end you can create a sh file with this content
It gives you execute permissions and looks in startup applications to run it on login. Please set a delay of 1 minute (sleep 1 in the sh if no delay option).
Ready friends with this the key change will be effective and you can even use it in combination of keys. I hope it can help someone.
