I am currently presenting a problem in my application made in Android Studio, it turns out that when I upload a new update it is not reflected with the users who have it installed, I have done tests as a user and the version number is updated but the changes are not , even though automatic updates are enabled.
I always have to hit the update button
What I want is that the user at least be notified that there is an update and that he must update the app to continue using it, therefore the only thing that occurred to me is to do what many applications do and is to create a dialog like the next:
And so the user is redirected to the store so that he can perform the update and that while the versionCode or the versionName are different from the version that is in google play, it does not stop showing the dialog box.
As a last point, researching a little about it, I realized that this problem that I have should not be presented to me since that is done by Google Play, however in my case it is not like that, I do not know if my problem is in Android Studio or in the Google Play Console (My app is an open beta).
I've already checked several sites about it and a couple of questions on StackOverFlow
Thank you very much in advance, I hope you can guide me.
I already found a solution following the guide that Sinner left us! Creating the following code in the class where you want the dialog to be displayed
and getting the method in the onCreate
checkForAppUpdate();
So every time the user starts the application, it will validate if the version that is running is the same as the one uploaded to the play store, I hope someone will find it useful in the future.
