What packages should I install in Emacs to write PHP-formatted code?
I mean having syntax highlight, autocompletion, error correction. In short, packages that make it easy to develop PHP applications in Emacs.

Emacs
has aphp-mode
. With your file open:And the current buffer will be put into PHP mode.
If you want PHP files to open directly in PHP mode, add, in your
~/.emacs
:You 'll get syntax-highlighting at least, though I don't know what other features PHP mode will have since I don't do much programming in PHP.
You need to have the package installed
php-elisp
so that you have PHP mode in Emacs. To see if you already have it installed:If you see a package named
php-elisp
, and it shows as installed, you're done. But:You also have spacemacs ( http://spacemacs.org ) that will provide you with a good set of packages that will make your work easier when it comes to programming, autocompletion, etc.
I say this because without much effort you have a fairly powerful emacs environment. Although for my taste the best thing is to adapt your environment, install the packages, the modes, the themes... that you like and are going to use, period. Although I've been using spacemacs for a long time and very happy, the only problem is that you have many packages and features that you don't use.
