Currently I have a provider that contracted with a domain and hosting, but since site5 hosting has limited storage, they chose to buy another hosting which is godaddy. What I do not understand and I want to know if it is possible, is to know how I can use the domain that I have in site5, and that it points to the hosting that I have in godaddy? I also have another question, can you separate the domain and hosting from the same provider (site5)? It is the first time that I work with domains and paid hosting :/
You can have separate domain and hosting. It is even recommended, especially when you have to change hosting for some reason.
To configure it you need two simple steps:
Step 1: On the hosting
You have to find out in the hosting (GoDaddy) in your case, which are the name servers .
It usually appears in the
Domains
cPanel section. Or you can ask technical support. You can review this link , where they indicate the name servers, depending on what you have contracted with them.
This image is from Bluehost, but may serve as a guide:
Step 2: at the domain registrar
You have to indicate that your domain points to GoDaddy, putting the name servers obtained in step 1.
There should be an option to put custom server names. The registrar's own name servers will probably be there. You must delete those and put the ones from GoDaddy.
This image is from my logger, but it might still give you an idea:
As for whether you can separate the domain and hosting from the same provider, I don't see the possibility of doing so or what sense it would make, unless the provider has a company that manages the hosting on the one hand and another company that manages it on the other. the domains. They would still be separated...
